The Hebrew Bible exercises a highly sophisticated narrative art that deploys a variety of distinctive conventions and techniques unlike what is found in other narrative traditions. This lecture, delivered by renowned scholar Robert B. Alter, Professor Emeritus of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley, will offer an introduction to these narrative procedures with special attention to the use of repetition as a way of better appreciating the artistry of the Hebrew stories. Free and open to the public; free parking available.
